School Bullying

In 2007 Iowa passed law against bullying. In the small towns these laws are not getting enforced. We are currently fighting with our school district because my daughter has been getting bullied and beat by the daughter of a teacher's aide. The "aide" has even went to my daughter outside of school and told her "stay away from my daughter, don't look at her, talk to her, or even dream about her." The principal of course is backing the teacher's aide and my nine year old daughter is talking about killing herself. The teacher's aide has been watching my daughter get beat by her and doing nothing. It's become a he said she said situation. Another family in our small town had similar issues and finally left town. This is bullshit! These small towns get away with murder and if you don't have the money for representation you and your kids get fucked!

OMG, you have to continue supporting and fighting for her. Go to the Board of Education. Go to the Police. Get a small tape recorder that she could have in her jacket pocket or somewhere she could easily turn it on if trouble starts. Start a diary of every single incident. There has to be some way of addressing this. No child should feel they want to end their life over a bully. Keep on it, Mom. You will find a way of making things better. Our school district has a No Tolerance policy for stuff like that. Of course it still happens, kids find ways, but they have to be led by example and if that aide is part of the problem then continue to report her or write a letter to the school suggesting legal intervention if necessary.
Good luck.

p.s. you don't necessarily have to have money for the legal stuff.... call Legal Aid in your area for info.

Thanks! I called Legal Aide already and have been waiting for a call. We went and spoke to Dr. Micek this morning. He is the Superintendent. He is getting a third party to investigate from the larger school district and was very supportive regarding our issues. We will see where it all goes.
